can you sing?
YOU CAN SING. Period.
Hey, y’all. I’m Dr. Liz Frazer aka The Salty Voice Teacher.
Why am I The Salty Voice Teacher? Great question, I would love to tell you.
…so many people out there think only “naturally talented” folks can or should sing (whatever that even means) and I have STRONG OPINIONS on why this is bullshit.
…lots of well-intentioned teachers still teach with a one-size-fits-all approach and, while we all have a lot in common, one-size-fits-all is, well, also bullshit.
…I’m passionate about what I do and believe that EVERYONE should have access to music instruction. Gatekeeping in the arts is, once again, bullshit.
…Also, I like to swear. Some may even say that I curse like a sailor.
…And lastly, did I mention that I live a on a boat? Like an actual boat in a marina?
Yeah, I’m pretty much just salty all around.
jump in. You know you wanna sing.
Wanna know my story?
You know what's not bullshit?
Everyone can SING, and they should.
Y'all. I'm here to tell you that everyone can, in fact, sing. If you can make sounds with your voice then you can sing.
And everyone should because it feels good and is an amazing stress reliever and quality of life enhancer.
It's just how we're built. Seriously.
Singing is a combination of coordination and strengthening of the musculature. Which is AMAZING because it means if you use your voice then it will start to get stronger and stronger AND, you'll have lots of options for how YOU WANT to sound.
Look, it's like any athletic endeavor. When I started lifting weights I was weak.
Did that mean that I shouldn't lift weights? Absolutely not.
Did that mean that it was a straight up, linear process? Also no. (And what in life IS linear??)
Just like there are ways of lifting weights that work better for certain bodies, there are ways of strengthening your singing voice that are particularly suited to YOUR body.
That's where I come in.

Check out the Feet First Vocal Program page for info on voice classes where YOU are the one that decides how you want to sound.
Yes, yes you can sing.
I can help guide you to make the sounds that YOU want to make and have fun doing it.
Everyone deserves a safe community where they can be themselves, take risks, and explore the most creative version of themselves. Everyone deserves to sing freely and expressively.
Access to music education is a social justice issue- I offer sliding scale payment plans. I want to break down the barriers that keep you from singing.
